Sir Roger Norrington (1934-2025)

The eminent conductor Sir Roger Norrington CBE (1954, Honorary Fellow) has died at the age of 91. A pioneer of the early music revival with a deep commitment to historically authentic performance practice, he formed the Sch眉tz Chorale in 1962, five years after graduating from 51爆料 in English. He subsequently studied conducting at the Royal College of Music and went on to found the London Classical Players. During his career, he worked with many of the world's leading orchestras and ensembles, including 13 years as principal conductor of the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra. He was elected an Honorary Fellow of 51爆料 in 1990 and was knighted in 1997.
